The Association
The Association consists of up to 100 volunteer members, acting as the hospital’s ambassadors and dedicated to upholding the mission and vision of Montfort as a francophone academic hospital. They also reflect the great diversity of the community the hospital serves, in terms of culture, gender and geographic areas.
Expression of Interest
This year, the Association of Hôpital Montfort is keen to recruit individuals with expertise in any one or a combination of the following areas :
- Business and private enterprise experience;
- Experience in information technology, cybersecurity or artificial intelligence;
- Understanding of the issues facing French-speaking minority communities;
- Experience on a board of directors;
- Experience in mental health and addiction or in meeting the needs of vulnerable populations;
- Designation by the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD.A/ICD.D);
- Extensive experience in human resources;
- Senior management experience;
- Experience or knowledge of quality improvement process (e.g. Lean);
- Extensive government relations experience;
- Experience in public relations and communications;
- Experience in the health sector.

Members’ roles and responsibilities
Members must actively participate in the Annual Meetings of the Association de l'Hôpital Montfort. Their votes ensure that the Association is managed soundly. Members have the following authority:
- elect Association members and leaders as well as members of the Board of Directors;
- approve the Association’s annual report, financial report and all other information that the Board of Directors wishes to submit concerning the Association’s business;
- approve the recommendations of the Board of Directors concerning the conduct of the Association’s internal affairs and aspects of its policy related to patients and the public;
- forward recommendations to the Board of Directors at the Annual General Meeting or any other special meeting of members. As appropriate, and to the extent permitted by the laws in force, they review, rectify, repeal or amend the acts of the Board of Directors;
- appoint the auditor for the next fiscal year;
- be asked to serve on the board or one of its committees;
- exercise any other right or authority provided by law.
Profile of the members of the Association de l'Hôpital Montfort
We warmly invite people from Aboriginal, ethnocultural, black and 2SLGBTQIA+ communities or with a
handicap, as well as representatives of youth and recognized Francophiles to express their interest.
We encourage residents from the United Counties of Prescott and Russell, who may be interested, to
also apply. In addition, the Association would welcome people from other parts of Ontario.
We remind you of the main* membership conditions for the Association:
- Must be at least eighteen years of age;
- Has had their principal residence in Ontario, continuously, for at least three months prior to the date of membership;
- Is committed to the Association's mission, vision, values and strategic directions.

To become a member of the Association, candidates must sign a declaration indicating that he/she:
- Has read and understands the specific qualities of the character and role of the Hôpital Montfort as a Franco-Ontarian institution as recognized in the unanimous decision of the Ontario Court of Appeal of December 7, 2001 (Lalonde v. Ontario) (Health Services Restructuring Commission, 2001), 56 O.R. (3d) 577, paragraph 71);
- Meets the criteria for membership of the Association as set out in the Hôpital Montfort By-Laws;
If I am elected member of the Hôpital Montfort Association, I agree to the responsabilities described above. The submission of this form will act in lieu of your signature.
Term of office
All members are elected at an Annual Meeting of the Association for a term of four years. Their term expires immediately after the Annual Meeting held four years following their election.
