Nurse-led Wound, Ostomy and Continence service
The wound care, ostomy and continence nursing specialty was introduced at Hôpital Montfort in 2012.
The complex wound care and ostomy service is currently provided by a full-time, certified nurse specialist.
For inpatients, the nurse specialist supports interprofessional teams with complex wound or ostomy issues.
On an outpatient basis, a clinic dedicated specifically to the ostomate population offers support from the intraoperative phase (during the operation) for elective situations.
Post-operative and routine follow-up care is also available for Hôpital Montfort patients who have undergone ostomy surgery.
