Our volunteers
The Montfort team is also more than 200 volunteers who, day after day, collaborate with the hospital staff and offer their time and experience to significantly increase the quality of services offered to our patients.
It is a dynamic team coming from different age groups, cultures and wishing to contribute to the quality of Francophone identity services.
We are also welcoming volunteers at the new Aline-Chrétien Health Hub.

The contribution of volunteers adds value to Montfort and the Aline-Chrétien Health Hub's services and improves the quality of life of patients, clients, visitors and staff.
All volunteer programs offer training with an experienced volunteer to familiarize yourself with your task description as a volunteer.
Volunteering means having the opportunity to:

Here are a few examples of the tasks performed by volunteers at Montfort:
- Friendly visits
- Provide a friendly and warm presence and lend a sympathetic ear to patients
- Talk with patients
- Offer to play cards or games, to read or provide other pleasant distractions
- Accompany patients who have staff permission to leave the unit (e.g., to the prayer room, boutique, cafeteria, etc.)

- Provide support to families and visitors on the unit
- Registration centres
- Guide patients during registration and invite them to take a number and sit in the waiting room
- If a person is not in the right location, accompany him or her or explain how to get there
- Provide support to patients to the clinic waiting room
- Ensure that the registration waiting room runs smoothly
- Spiritual and religious services
- Visit patients of all cultures and beliefs
- Provide spiritual support
- Bring comfort to patients and their loved ones
- Offer communion
- Reception desk
- Warmly greet patients and visitors as they arrive at the Hospital
- Reach out to patients and visitors and offer them assistance
- Accompany patients or visitors to their destination or show them how to get there
- Respond to requests for general information
- Boutique Montfort
- Serve the needs of patients, employees and visitors by selling various items including gifts, flowers, books, newspapers and candies
- Welcome and serve customers with courtesy
- Open or close the boutique
- Restock merchandise
- Occasional requests
- Participate in fundraising events
- Respond to various needs at the Hospital such as the vaccination clinic or special events
- Provide administrative support in various departments
- Participate in various committees for the hospital such as the Accessibility committee
- Help with logisitics for conferences
- Play an 'acting role' for various multimedia products with informational or educational purposes
Here are a few examples of the tasks performed by volunteers at the Aline-Chrétien Health Hub:
- Welcome kiosk
Greet clients and visitors as they arrive at the Hub Help clients sign-in for their appointments Proactively offer help to clients and visitors Lead clients and visitors to their desired location or indicate the best way to get there Answer general questions and requests Help staff members with greeting clients in specific departments and providing instructions for them to follow
- Occasional requests
Participate in fundraising events Help with logistics for events, conferences or trainings Participe in committees at the Hub Assist with mapping out new processes for clients
Hours of work depend on the number of hours that a volunteer is able to provide as well as the needs of the various departments or services. The recommended length of a work shift is four hours per week. Volunteering is a commitment: we rely on our volunteers to remain involved for a minimum of four months.
- Submit the application form online.
- Once your application is accepted, a member of the Volunteer Services team will contact you to schedule an interview. The interview will take place in French.
- Obtain a police record check.
- Take a tuberculosis screening test and provide proof of certain immunizations.
- Attend an orientation session.
- Attend a training tailored to your position.
