We can, and must, do better

OTTAWA, June 5, 2020 - As the Ottawa community gets ready to march against racism today, Montfort raises its voice in solidarity with Black communities. We denounce racist acts perpetrated against people of colour.

We sincerely believe that our differences make our strength. We value qualities and competencies above all else. Our staff is a diverse mosaic and we are proud of that...but there is still much to be done.

While there has been some recent progress, there will always be room for improvement in the representation of these communities, whether it be among our leadership team or on our Board of Trustees.

We can, and must, do better.

We invite members of the black communities and other visible minority communities to answer our call and join the Association de l'Hôpital Montfort. We have extended the nomination period to become a member of our Association.

We need your voice and your perspective around the table to shape the future of our hospital, to find remedies for inequalities, and to put in place measures to combat systemic racism, which has no place at Montfort or anywhere else.

Respect is one of Montfort's core values, along with compassion, mutual aid, responsibility and excellence. We are committed to listening to you and ensuring that our environment is safe and welcoming for our patients and their loved ones as well as for our team members. If you have ideas to help us improve, please write to PDG@montfort.on.ca.
