News regarding Montfort’s Chief of Staff

OTTAWA, February 11, 2022 - The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Hôpital Montfort, Mr. Carl Nappert, announced today that the Chief of Staff of Hôpital Montfort, Dr. Stéphane Roux, wishes to reorient his career in order to devote more time to front-line medicine and to being a military helicopter pilot, and will be stepping down from his role as Chief of Staff on July 13.

Dr. Roux, it will be recalled, began his tenure as Chief of Staff in December 2019, just months before the pandemic began. "His qualities, combined with his experiences in the Canadian Armed Forces, enabled him to face the pandemic with strength and calm, even in the darkest periods of the health crisis," Nappert recalled.  "His primary concern has always been for the safety and health of patients, medical personnel and all staff. In this regard, I salute Dr. Roux's dedication and commitment. "

While he is stepping down as Chief of Staff, Dr. Roux is not leaving Montfort. He will continue to expand the offer of French-language health services, notably by continuing to treat patients from Hearst through telemedicine; and he will contribute to Montfort's academic mission by participating in a research project on the effects of coaching sessions for francophone physicians in minority situations, in collaboration with the Institut du Savoir Montfort and the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ottawa.

The Hôpital Montfort will soon begin the search for a new Chief of Staff.
