Matthew Anderson, President and CEO of Ontario Health, announced this week the appointment of Dominic Giroux, President and CEO of Montfort, to the position of Special Advisor - French Language Health Services, effective immediately.

Reporting to the CEO, Dominic will provide strategic advice and guidance to support Ontario Health's commitment to meeting the requirements of the French Language Services Act in the planning, design, delivery and evaluation of health care services for Ontario's French-speaking communities.

"I am grateful that Dominic has accepted to serve on a part-time basis in an unpaid advisory capacity in addition to his current role as President and CEO of Hôpital Montfort" explained Matthew Anderson.

"Dominic is a seasoned health and education leader, with an established record of supporting the availability of French language health services and the development of French-speaking health care professionals in Ontario."

Since July, he serves as President and CEO of Hôpital Montfort, which is Ontario’s Francophone academic hospital. Montfort holds provincial responsibility for planning and supporting French language health services and serves as a Centre of Excellence and hub for French language health care professional education. He previously served as President and CEO of Health Sciences North and of the Health Sciences North Research Institute in Sudbury. He co-chaired Ontario Health’s COVID-19 Northern Ontario Regional Steering Committee and served on our COVID-19 Provincial Health System Response Oversight Table.

Dominic also chairs the board of the Ontario Hospital Association and co-chaired the National Health Training Consortium (CNFS). He is a Certified Health Executive with the Canadian College of Health Leaders and a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. In 2016, he received the Pilier de la Francophonie award from the Assemblée de la Francophonie de l'Ontario.

"He brings to Ontario Health invaluable insights and knowledge of the challenges and opportunities related to delivering French language health services that will help improve the health of Ontario’s Francophone population" concludes Matthew Anderson.
