Anti-Racism, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion: A Priority

Ottawa, September 9, 2021 — The Committee Against Racism and for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (CREDI) recently shared the results of its analytical work with the external firm KPMG, over the past few months.

The events of spring 2020, following the death of George Floyd in the United States, have been a source of introspection. At Montfort, we realized that changes are needed, to live well together. Since then, we have undertaken concrete actions toward this goal, including the creation of CREDI and an action plan to counter racism in all its forms.

This report provides us with a portrait of the current situation in Montfort in terms of anti-racism, equity, diversity, and inclusion and confirms that we can, and must, do better.

I invite you to read the report by clicking here.

My senior management colleagues and I reiterate our commitment to making Montfort a workplace where everyone belongs. This report provides us with data, analysis and recommendations that will help us continue our efforts in this direction.

I would like to acknowledge the work done by the CREDI in its first year. In just a few months, this group of people from Montfort formed a committee, developed a mandate and an action plan, conducted an awareness campaign, and did the work necessary to produce this report, in partnership with KPMG. This is an important step and I thank them sincerely.

We are now working to review the report in a thoughtful and committed manner and will work with the CREDI to implement the next steps. Anti-racism, equity, diversity, and inclusion are key principles and are a priority for me and the senior management team.

I invite you to write to me if you have any questions on this topic. We are committed to listening to you and to ensuring that our environment is safe and welcoming for our team members and our community.

Sincerely,

Dr. Bernard Leduc
President and CEO
