Montfort appoints Mélanie Dubé Chief Financial Officer

OTTAWA, July 20, 2017 – Montfort, Ontario’s Francophone academic hospital, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mélanie Dubé to the position of Vice-President, Performance, Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer. Ms Dubé took this position on July 10.

This choice is the outcome of a nation-wide selection process by an executive recruitment agency.

Ms Dubé has been working for Montfort for nearly 18 years. During this time, she distinguished herself by her knowledge of the best practices in finance and business strategy, as well as her understanding of the challenges facing the hospital sector, her commitment, her spirit of cooperation and her pursuit of excellence.

She began her career as a respiratory therapist, and joined the Montfort team in 1999, where she quickly climbed the ranks as a clinical manager. At the same time, Ms Dubé earned a bachelor’s degree in administration as well as a Diplôme d’études supérieures spécialisées (DESS), Executive CMA Program, from Université du Québec en Outaouais, combined with an MBA from the Université du Québec à Montréal. She became the director of Financial Services at Montfort in 2012; material and supply management were added to her responsibilities in 2014.

“Through her vast experience in management, finance, education, research and exemplary care, Ms Dubé will help us make great strides,” explains Dr. Bernard Leduc, chief executive officer of Hôpital Montfort. “The leadership role she has shown on several large-scale initiatives will prove very useful in achieving our ambitious goals, as we move ahead with our 2021 strategy.”

Dr. Leduc took this opportunity to thank Danny Purcell who left Montfort in February 2017, after overseeing the hospital’s finances for 17 years. He also acknowledged the support of Jean-François Trépanier, who ensured a fluid transition in the interim.

Hôpital Montfort is Ontario’s Francophone academic hospital, offering exemplary person-centred care. Montfort serves over 1.2 million people in Eastern Ontario, in both official languages. In 2014, it earned Accreditation with Exemplary Standing from Accreditation Canada, and was designated Best Practices Spotlight Organization by the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario.
