Canada’s Top 40 Research Hospitals : Montfort climbing the ranks
Ottawa, Friday, November 10, 2017 – Montfort is proud to announce that it ranks amongst Canada's Top 40 Research Hospitals for the third year in a row.
The Canada's Top 40 Research Hospitals List is published by Research InfoSource Inc, a leading information source on research and development in Canada.
Thanks to the collaboration of the Institut du Savoir Montfort (ISM), an organization dedicated to research, clinical placements management and continuing professional development of Montfort, the hospital ranks 37th among the top research hospitals in Canada and 17th among the 20 research hospitals in Ontario.
“We have climbed to the 37th position with a research volume of 7.706 million dollars in 2016”, explains Dr. Denis Prud’homme, scientific director of the ISM. “This represents an increase of 15.1 per cent, comparatively to 2015. Considering that Montfort’s research institute was launched only five years ago, the fact that we are in fourth place in terms of increase shows the vivacity of research at Montfort.”
The ISM counts 55 researchers and the hospital now has three research chairs; a first chair, in medical pedagogy, is currently being created. Montfort ranks 11th in terms of research intensity amongst hospitals of similar size in Canada, with 140,100 dollars per researcher.
Hôpital Montfort is Ontario’s Francophone academic hospital, offering exemplary person-centred care. The hospital serves over 1.2 million people in Eastern Ontario, in both official languages. In 2014, it earned Accreditation with Exemplary Standing from Accreditation Canada, and was designated Best Practices Spotlight Organization by the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario.
