Approximate emergency wait time

If you need urgent medical care, call 911 or go to the Emergency at the hospital nearest you.

Wait times are often shorter between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m., when a physician is dedicated to minor emergencies and follow-up. This approach allows other members of our medical team to spend more time with patients with urgent and complex needs.

If you are not seriously ill, you have options other than Emergency:

  • Consult your family physician or go to a walk-in clinic
  • Obtain telephone advice
    • Call Telehealth Ontario at 1 866 797 0000 (Ontario patients) or the Info-Santé line at 811 (Quebec patients).

For your visit to the Emergency, bring:

  • Your Health card
  • The up-to-date list of your medications and allergies
  • the telephone number of the person who can be contacted in case of emergency, and who can pick you up when you are ready to leave the hospital, if necessary.
