Spirituals and religious services

Behind every diagnosis, every word, and every silence, there is a person, with their own story, beliefs, values, and search for meaning.
This deeply human reality guides the Spiritual and Religious Care Services at Montfort. Our team welcomes each individual with compassion, respect, and openness, responding to their spiritual, human, and relational needs — whatever they may be.

A Person-Centred Approach

We believe that health and care are rooted in a holistic approach that values both physical well-being and inner well-being, as well as the need to be heard, respected, and supported during moments of vulnerability.
Illness and life’s challenges can bring anxiety, loneliness, doubt, or a search for meaning. Our role is to provide personalized support in a safe space where each person can express themselves freely — or simply be present in silence.

Two Pillars of Support

Friendly Visits (Presence and Listening)

Our volunteers offer a compassionate, non-judgmental human presence:

  • Attentive listening and simple conversations
  • Moments of companionship, reading, or quiet presence
  • Support during periods of isolation, transition, or end of life
  • Presence for patients and their loved ones

Weekly activities are also offered to promote well-being and social connection:

  • Music
  • Art therapy
  • Games and activities (including bingo)

These moments help reduce isolation and bring comfort to everyday life.

Religious and Spiritual Visits

For those who wish, we offer support that respects individual beliefs and traditions:

  • Prayer
  • Personalized spiritual care
  • Presence during difficult moments

Each month, many visits are provided, reflecting the important role this support plays for patients and their families.
Our team is multifaith and includes representatives from diverse religious traditions. Each person is free to express, or not express, their spirituality, and every journey is welcomed with equal dignity.

Prayer and Reflection Room

A quiet, welcoming space is available to all:

  • Room 4C436 (North Wing)
  • Open to people of all beliefs
  • Ideal for prayer, meditation, or quiet reflection
  • Available for reservation for specific spiritual or religious needs

To make a reservation, please contact the Spiritual and Religious Care team

A Dedicated Team

Coordinated by the Manager of Spiritual and Religious Services, the team includes:

  • Trained volunteers in active listening and spiritual care
  • Representatives from various faith traditions

The team works closely with healthcare professionals to integrate the spiritual dimension into a person-centred approach to care.

A Quiet but Essential Presence

Whether it’s a moment of silence, a helping hand, or a meaningful conversation, our role is simple: to be fully present and support you through what you are experiencing.
We are here to support each person in their full humanity.
