Montfort named one of Canada's Top 40 Research Hospitals for tenth consecutive year
Ottawa, December 5, 2024 - Montfort, Ontario's Francophone academic hospital, has been named one of Canada's Top 40 Research Hospitals for the tenth consecutive year.
The list of research hospitals is compiled by Research InfoSource Inc, a Canadian company specializing in research and development information, as part of Canada's Top 40 Research Hospitals report.
Montfort entered the ranks of Canada's top research hospitals in 2015. This year, the hospital comes in 38th place nationally, and in 8th place provincially in terms of growth of research investment; an increase of 11.7% compared to the previous year.
“Once again, this recognition testifies to Montfort's performance and importance in the field of research,” said Estelle Ethier, Vice President, Teaching and Research at Montfort, and CEO of the Institut du Savoir Montfort (ISM), the organization responsible for coordinating research, clinical internships and continuing professional development at the hospital. “By being a unique francophone environment, combining teaching, research and innovation, we are agile to develop the next generation of knowledge for care tailored to the future.”

As part of the 2024-2028 Strategic Plan, Montfort aims to increase the volume and quality of its research activities with the aim of disseminating new knowledge to improve care.
The Institut du Savoir Montfort, which has made collaborative research its trademark, relies on interdisciplinarity to perfect research at Montfort. The ISM has four research chairs and 144 research members, 65 of whom are clinician- researchers. ISM's research activities total $13.2 million, supporting 135 research projects and 15 clinical trials currently underway.
