Second COVID-19 Care Clinic opening in Ottawa East on Thursday

OTTAWA – April 8, 2020, UPDATED May 25 – As the next step in the regional response to COVID-19, a second Care Clinic opens on Thursday, April 9, at 10 a.m. in Ottawa’s east end. It is operated by Hôpital Montfort, in partnership with Ottawa Public Health and the region’s Clinical Care Coordination Centre (C4). 

The clinic’s primary function is to provide treatment for people with symptoms of respiratory illness – cough, fever and cold-like symptoms – that can’t be managed at home. It is located in the former St. Patrick Intermediate school in Guildwood Estates, 1485 Heron Road, at the corner of Alta Vista. 

The clinic is open from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday to Friday – including on holidays.

Offering services in English and French, this clinic is equipped to do basic diagnostic tests, such as COVID-19 swabbing, chest X-rays and lab tests. It helps Ottawa-area patients get the care they need. It also serves to divert patient volumes from hospital Emergency Departments – helping to keep the Emergency Department for emergencies.

Note that access to the clinic is not optimised for people with reduced mobility.

The site is operated by staff and physicians from Hôpital Montfort, as well as primary care physicians and pediatricians from our community.

Ottawa residents who only need to be tested should continue to go to the COVID-19 Assessment Centre, located in the Brewer Arena.

People from Ottawa’s West End who need treatment for their symptoms of respiratory illness should go to the COVID-19 Care Clinic in Bells Corner in the former D. A. Moodie Intermediate school, in order to limit travels within the city. Both clinics have the same schedule.
