Not a secret anymore: Montfort is one of Canada’s top research hospital

Ottawa, December 11, 2020 – Montfort, Ontario’s Francophone academic hospital, is proud to be on the list of Canada’s most important research hospitals for the sixth year in a row.

Montfort entered the ranking of research hospitals in 2015. This year, the hospital is in 37th position in Canada, 17th among Ontario hospitals, and 10th in research intensity among hospitals of the same size in Canada.

This success is possible thanks to the ongoing work of the Institut du Savoir Montfort (ISM), the knowledge institute responsible for coordinating research, clinical internships and continuing professional development at the Montfort.

The ISM now includes 97 researchers, which represents a 10% increase over the previous year, and seven research chairs, including a new research chair in family medicine in partnership with the University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine and the Montfort Foundation, the first of its kind, in French, in Ontario.

In 2019-20, research funding increased by six per cent over the previous year. ISM researchers have been able to move quickly to set up research projects and participate in clinical trials on COVID-19.
