Montfort, once again one of Canada’s Top 40 Research Hospitals
Ottawa, November 14, 2019 – Montfort, Ontario’s Francophone academic hospital, is once again on the list of Canada’s most important research hospitals.
Montfort entered the ranking of research hospitals in 2015. This year, the hospital is in 39th position in Canada and 18th among Ontario hospitals.
This success is possible thanks to the ongoing work of the Institut du Savoir Montfort (ISM), the knowledge institute responsible for coordinating research, clinical internships and continuing professional development at the Montfort.
“Research takes on a more important role each year for Montfort,” says Dr. Bernard Leduc, President and CEO of Montfort. “This year, we stand out with a 33% increase in our investments in research projects, the second largest growth among research hospitals in Canada.”
According to Dr. Denis Prud'homme, Scientific Director of the ISM, “the increase in research volume is explained by the involvement of our research clinicians, patient partners and all hospital members in the development and execution of research projects.”
The ISM now counts 89 researchers, representing a 46% increase over the previous year, and six research chairs. Montfort ranks 8th in research intensity among hospitals of the same size in Canada.
