Josette-Renée Landry, PhD, named Chief Executive Officer of the Institut du Savoir Montfort 

Ottawa, September 15, 2020 - The Board of Directors of the Institut du Savoir Montfort (ISM) is proud to announce the appointment of Josette-Renée Landry, PhD, as Chief Executive Officer of the ISM, effective September 15, 2020.

The Franco-Ontarian researcher and entrepreneur holds a PhD in genetics from the University of British Columbia and an MBA from HEC Montréal. She has more than twenty years of experience in genomics and cancer research at the national and international level. She has worked at the interface between the academic, hospital and private sector research communities as Vice President of Business Development at Mitacs, a national non-profit private research organization that funds partnerships in all disciplines. She has been involved in the development of major initiatives and partnerships with research organizations and sits on numerous boards of directors, including the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR).

With an entrepreneurial spirit, she has participated in the start-up of numerous initiatives, including the founding of two private companies and an NPO. Her recent success is Streamline Genomics, a startup in personalized medicine in residency at CHU Sainte-Justine that is developing a platform that allows physicians to use genomics without the need for advanced knowledge in data analysis. Funded at more than $1 million, his company has won numerous awards and is now helping to facilitate access to personalized medicine.

"Through her leadership, her constant search for innovation and her entrepreneurial spirit, Ms. Landry is the ideal person to take on the new challenges of the IMS," said Céline Monette, Chair of the IMS Board of Directors. "She has chosen us as much as we have chosen her and I am confident that she will help the Institute move forward with its mission. »

Ms. Landry has a strong interest in knowledge transfer and knowledge translation and will aim to strengthen ISM's capacity to innovate. Her experience with research organizations will help to raise the profile of ISM both nationally and internationally. His expertise in building partnerships with key players in the private sector and entrepreneurship will support ISM's efforts to increase its funding from a variety of sources.

Ms. Landry succeeds Dr. John Joanisse as Interim CEO. Dr. Joanisse assumed the position following the departure of Dr. Denis Prud'homme.
