Estelle Ethier appointed as Chief Executive Officer of the Institut du Savoir Montfort and Vice President of Research and Education at Hôpital Montfort

Ottawa, April 11, 2023 - The Board of Directors of the Institut du Savoir Montfort (ISM) is pleased to announce the appointment of Estelle Ethier, Erg (Ont), MEd, MBA, as Chief Executive Officer of the Institut du Savoir Montfort and Vice President of Research and Education at Hôpital Montfort, starting May 1st 2023.

Ms. Ethier is an experienced leader in the fields of health and education. Highly committed to the Franco-Ontarian community, Ms. Ethier served as Director of Education at ISM from July 2016 to March 2018, on the Board of Directors of ISM from September 2021 to November 2022, and has been a member of the Hopital Montfort Association for many years. She has also served as Dean of Education at Collège La Cité for the past five years, during which time she played several key roles, including the development of the new Honors Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. This four-year program, developed in collaboration with the Ontario Ministry of Colleges and Universities, will be offered in the fall of 2023 to support hospitals in the face of a growing workforce shortage, particularly in Francophone minority communities.

"We are confident that Ms. Ethier's collaborative leadership, interprofessional skills, extensive knowledge and experience in the field will contribute to the growth of Institut du Savoir Montfort," said Nancy Rhéaume, chair of the Institut du Savoir Montfort Board of Directors. "Her ties within the community will be a major asset in continuing to stimulate the growth and impact of research at ISM for the benefit of the Montfort community and the Francophonie."

Ms. Ethier is passionate about knowledge development and transfer and aims to strengthen ISM's capacity to be innovative. Her experience and expertise in building partnerships with key players in the sector will support ISM's efforts to achieve its mandate of improving the health of Francophone minority communities in Canada and ultimately, the healthcare sector and the health of the world.

"I am excited to begin this new mandate at the Institut du Savoir Montfort, whose unique model allows researchers to work collaboratively with clinicians and educators to foster knowledge transfer, while emphasizing innovation," said Ethier. "I look forward to working with the teams and partners to take the Institute to the next level."

Ms. Ethier succeeds Dr. Sharon Johnston and Ms. Marie-Andrée Imbeault, who have assumed the interim executive direction of the ISM following the departure of Ms. Josette Renée Landry in January 2023.

With this appointment, ISM is committed to being the benchmark for francophone research and education in Canada and will continue to be a leader in the field.
