Montfort honoured by the Canadian College of Health Leaders

Ottawa, September 17, 2020 – The Canadian College of Health Leaders presented two awards to Hôpital Montfort during its virtual ceremony “Honouring Health Leadership 2020” on September 16.

The Award of Excellence in Mental Health Quality Improvement was presented to the Montfort Mental Health Program.

Over the past few years, Montfort has completely rethought its approach in order to offer a francophone therapeutic environment focused on recovery. The patient, now considered a partner on the team rather than a user of services, is now better able to regain control over their life.

“The Canadian College of Health Leaders is proud to recognize Hôpital Montfort as the recipient of the 2020 Award of Excellence in Mental Health Quality Improvement,” said Alain Doucet, CEO of the College. “This award honours Montfort for its sustained, evidence-based quality improvements in the field of mental health.”

This award of excellence is the result of the mobilization and collaboration of all stakeholders. The implementation of a series of initiatives in the Mental Health Program contributes to the improvement of care and services offered there. Therefore, the Mental Health Program has integrated therapeutic objectives, developed jointly with the patient, to include him or her in the recovery process.

The work of the team responsible for this strategy continues in this period of pandemic, which highlights new needs in mental health management.

As for the Chapter Award for Distinguished Service - Eastern Ontario, it was presented to Dr. Bernard Leduc, CEO of Montfort.

The Chapter Distinguished Contribution Award is presented to an individual or corporate member who has made an outstanding contribution to their chapter.

The Eastern Ontario Chapter selected Dr. Bernard Leduc as the recipient of this award for his involvement in the activities of the College and for his leadership in training programs, recruitment and other areas of voluntary contribution.
