Sofia Guay Appointed President and CEO of the Montfort Foundation
Ottawa, August 10, 2026 — The Board of Directors of the Montfort Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Sofia Guay as President and CEO. She will officially take office on October 5, 2026, succeeding Mr. Marc M. Villeneuve, who will retire at the end of 2026 after a three-decade career in philanthropic management, including eight years at the helm of the Montfort Foundation.
Sofia Guay is an accomplished philanthropic leader with nearly 18 years of experience at The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada. Throughout her career, she has brought together donors, volunteers, partners, and communities to advance research, improve patient care, and provide hope to families affected by blood cancers.
Born in Sweden, raised internationally, and educated in French in Ontario, including at Lycée Claudel in Ottawa, Sofia developed a deep appreciation for the French language and for the institutions that help Francophone communities thrive.
Her connection to Montfort is both professional and deeply personal. Just weeks after the birth of her first daughter, while caring for a seven-week-old newborn, Sofia experienced a ruptured appendix and required emergency care. During one of the most vulnerable moments of her life, she was profoundly impacted by the exceptional clinical care, professionalism, and compassion demonstrated by the Hôpital Montfort team.
She is inspired by Montfort’s unique culture—one that combines excellence, innovation, compassion, and community commitment. Sofia looks forward to bringing her leadership and fundraising expertise to the Montfort Hospital Foundation, helping to mobilize philanthropy in support of outstanding patient care, education, and research.
As she begins this new chapter, Sofia remains deeply grateful to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada, where she had the privilege of dedicating nearly 18 years to a mission close to her heart and supporting countless individuals and families affected by cancer.
