Traveller screening for COVID-19 before an international flight: available at the Ray Friel and Heron Clinics

Individuals who require a negative COVID-19 test result prior to international travel can be tested at the COVID-19 – Ray Friel Care and Testing Centre, located at 1585 Tenth Line Road in Orléans, or at the Heron Clinic, 1485 Heron Drive. The screening service for travellers is available Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

This service for international travellers is offered by Hôpital Montfort, in partnership with the Eastern Ontario Regional Laboratories Association (EORLA)..

  • To book an appointment, simply use the online appointment app or call (613) 288-5353, Monday to Friday. 
    • Appointments can be made up to five days in advance. 
    • There is usually room to take a test on the same day
  • A fee of $185 per test must be paid, by credit card ONLY, at the clinic. 
  • Adults and children six months of age and older can be tested. 
  • It is not necessary to bring a proof of travel.
  • Results should normally be available within 48 to 60 hours after the test. However, Montfort and EORLA cannot guarantee this time period. 

Travellers are responsible for verifying COVID-19 testing requirements with their airline or the country they will be visiting.

As a reminder, the government of Canada advises to avoid non-essential travel outside of Canada at the moment.

  • What are the days and hours of operation for traveller screening?
    • Traveller screening takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday to Friday.
  • How do I register?
    • Simply book using use the online appointment app or call 613-288-5353 from Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., up to two business days in advance.
    • Appointments are usually available the same day.
  • Do I need to show proof of travel (airline ticket or other)?
    • No, it is not necessary.
  • What kind of COVID-19 tests are performed on travellers?
    • It is a PCR test, done by inserting a swab through the nose, like all COVID-19 tests done at the Ray-Friel and Heron clinics.
  • What is the minimum age to take the COVID-19?
    • The clinic can test children as young as 6 month-old.
  • How long will it take to receive the results?
    • The results are usually available within 48 to 60 hours; sometimes they may be available sooner, and sometimes it takes longer. We have no control over how long it takes to get the results. Please note that we do not take responsibility for screening reports received too early, too late, or not received at all.
  • Can travellers from Quebec also be tested?
    • Yes.



  • How much does it cost?
    • $185 per test.
  • How can I pay? 
    • You must pay by credit card before taking the test. At the clinic, the clerk will take your credit card and enter the data into the secure online payment system.
  • Why isn't it free?
    • Traveller screening is no longer paid for by OHIP since it is not a health service.


After the test

  • Will the results be sent in a format I can print?
    • Yes.
  • Do I have to self-isolate between the time of my test and my departure for the airport?
    • No, but you must follow the instructions of your public health authorities


  • How will I receive a written copy of my results?
    • You can get your results from a COVID-19 diagnostic test by signing up for the Connected Care Patient Portal after your visit.
      • Visit There you can get more information about the Patient Portal, and access the platform by clicking on the Log in to the Connected Care Patient Portal button.
      • Once on the Patient Portal site, enter your login information and click Log on.
      • Click on the Health Record section and then on the Results tab, on the right.
    • The results presented in the Patient Portal indicate the type of test performed (PCR) and therefore comply with this requirement. You can also print your results.
