Hôpital Montfort amongst Top employers of the National Capital Region
Ottawa, February 5, 2015 – Hôpital Montfort is proud to be named one of the National Capital Region’s Top Employers for the first time.
The prize’s advisory board highlighted the fact that the hospital encourages employees to plan for the future with retirement planning assistance and health benefits that extend to retirees. It also supports employees who are new mothers, fathers or adoptive parents with maternity or parental leave top-up payments and offers flexible hours upon their return. Montfort helps employees develop their professional skills through in-house and online training programs, including apprenticeship opportunities and formal mentoring. It also provides opportunities for students and new grads to gain on-the-job experience with paid internships, co-op placements and summer student roles.
The annual National Capital Region's Top Employers competition recognizes employers that provide exceptional workplaces and offer the most progressive and forward-thinking programs compared with other organizations in their field.
The rigorous selection process is overseen by an advisory board that evaluates the organizations according to specific criteria. To place in the Top Employers, organizations must be leaders in their field in terms of physical workplace; work atmosphere and social life; health, financial and family benefits; vacation and time off; employee communications; performance management; training and skills development; and community involvement.
“This last year was marked by important projects and many external recognitions, such as an accreditation with exemplary standing from Accreditation Canada and a Silver Award from Quality Healthcare Workplace, issued by the Ontario Hospital Association”, noted Dr. Bernard Leduc, President and CEO of Hôpital Montfort. “This new prize shows the hospital's commitment towards our staff in our pursuit of excellence and our goal to make a difference for the community.”
Hôpital Montfort is a Francophone university health institution that offers quality care in both official languages and works with its partners to improve the health of communities. In 2014, Hôpital Montfort obtained its accreditation with exemplary standing from Accreditation Canada. It also earned recognition from the Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario (RNAO) as a Best Practice Spotlight Organization. In June 2013 the hospital was designated as a Group A teaching hospital.
