Simulation Learning Program
November 18, 2013 – Two years after its launch, the Hôpital Montfort Simulation Learning Program has received a five-year accreditation from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC). This is the highest level of recognition issued by the RCPSC.
The RCPSC evaluates simulation learning programs based on their ability to meet standards of excellence, to comply with practices arising from the latest medical research and to ensure patient safety.
“Montfort is now one of seven accredited institutions in the country known as a leader in education, inter-professional collaboration and patient safety”, explained
Dr. André Bilodeau, Vice President of Academic Affairs at Hôpital Montfort.
Montfort’s health professionals, medical students/residents and members of other health professions can expand their knowledge through the various simulation techniques and technologies available, including:
- clinical immersion (e.g.: use of mannequins);
- virtual reality;
- large-scale simulation.
“The health care professionals and students pursuing their education at Montfort gain access to an advanced technology designed to refine and maintain their skills. They become familiar with best practices in their respective fields of care. Ultimately, patients are the ones who benefit from this expertise with the assurance of high quality care delivered by skilled inter-professional teams concerned for their well-being”, added Dr. Bilodeau.
Hôpital Montfort is a Francophone academic healthcare institution that provides quality care in both official languages and works with its partners to improve the health of communities.
