Montfort 10th anniversary since the end of the legal proceedings for its survival
February 1, 2012 - More than one hundred employees and members of the Franco-Ontarian community have celebrated today the tenth anniversary of the end of the legal proceedings surrounding the survival of Hôpital Montfort. Indeed, on February 1, 2002, the Government of Ontario announced that it would not challenge the decision of the Court of Appeal to maintain Montfort opened.
“February 1, 2002 marks the beginning of a new era for Montfort. Our hospital officially became an institution providing health care and teaching in French for the future generations of health professionals”, said Dr. Bernard Leduc, President and Chief Executive Officer of Hôpital Montfort.
Several guests participated to the commemorative event including Mr. Ronald Caza, lawyer in the Montfort case, and Mr. Gérald Savoie, former CEO of Hôpital Montfort, both major players in the victory and what Hôpital Montfort has now become.
