Hôpital Montfort obtains "Accreditation with Exemplary Standing"
Montfort receives the top recognition in the land
Ottawa, September 10, 2014 - Hôpital Montfort was proud to learn that it had obtained accreditation with exemplary standing from Accreditation Canada.
"Exemplary standing is acknowledgement of the excellent care we provide on a daily basis," said Dr. Bernard Leduc, President and Chief Executive Officer of Hôpital Montfort.
Accreditation Canada is an independent organization that assesses 5,700 health institutions and services across Canada. Accreditation is a long process that forms part of a continuous improvement initiative designed to ensure excellence in health care and services. Only 20% of the organizations evaluated obtain "exemplary standing" for exceeding Accreditation Canada’s most rigorous requirements.
The culminating point in the accreditation process is a visit and evaluation by peers working in Canadian health institutions. Visitors spend a week on site observing and verifying how standards of excellence are applied throughout the hospital. Four Accreditation Canada visitors inspected Hôpital Montfort from April 27 to May 2 and found a 98.3% compliance rate with Accreditation Canada recommended standards.
“My sincere congratulations to all members of Hôpital Montfort for their commitment to quality and safety, a commitment clearly evident in the organizational culture,” stated Wendy Nicklin, President and Chief Executive Officer of Accreditation Canada. “The organization has demonstrated excellence in all aspects of quality improvement.”
The Accreditation Canada visitors’ report also underscored the high level of satisfaction among patients and their families, Montfort’s relationship with its partners and the contribution of its team of volunteers.
In December 2013, Accreditation Canada also recognized two of Montfort’s practices as “best practices”: a teaching tool that helps ease the transition to home for new mothers, and a follow-up procedure used by the Breast Clinic.
“Exemplary standing is a validation of the daily work accomplished by our teams; it recognizes the effort made to continuously improve the quality of our patient care,” summed up Dr. Leduc.
Hôpital Montfort is a Francophone academic healthcare institution equipped with state-of-the-art technology that provides quality care in both official languages and works with its partners to improve the health of communities.
