Dr. Denis Prud’homme joins the Hôpital Montfort Team

July 2, 2013 - Hôpital Montfort and the Institut de recherche de l’Hôpital Montfort (IRHM) are pleased to announce the nomination of Dr. Denis Prud’homme to the position of vice-president of Research and scientific director of the IRHM. 

“Dr. Prud’homme brings with him his solid expertise in research and management along with his vast clinical experience, which will greatly benefit the development of the IRHM and advance its mandate to stimulate knowledge creation that will improve the health of patients, families and the communities to which they belong,” said Dr. André Bilodeau, vice-president of Academic Affairs at Hôpital Montfort.

From 2002 and 2012, Dr. Prud’homme was Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Ottawa. His dedication and his active engagement in clinical research are major assets for Montfort. As a research clinician, Dr. Prud’homme led numerous studies on the effects of physical activity among people experiencing health problems such as obesity, diabetes and metabolic syndrome.

“It is with pleasure that I join the team at Hôpital Montfort. It will be a great opportunity for me to be able to support researchers so as they can continue to carry out innovative and competitive research program in an interprofessional context”, said Dr. Prud’homme.“We will highlight the diversity of our health research expertise, develop effective approaches to knowledge transfer and contribute to the quality of health care for Montfort and the health care system”, he added.

Hôpital Montfort and the IRHM also wish to thank Dr. Andrée Durieux-Smith for her contribution towards the creation of the IRHM. Dr. Durieux-Smith is looking forward to a well-deserved retirement after four years of service as vice-president of Research and scientific director of the IRHM.

Affiliated with the University of Ottawa, the IRHM is a multidisciplinary francophone research institute that contributes to improve the wellness and health of the population, particularly the health of francophone minorities, by creating, applying and disseminating knowledge.

Hôpital Montfort is a francophone institution that delivers quality care in both official languages, within an academic setting and working with its partners to improve the health of communities.
