Dr. André Bilodeau
Dr. André Bilodeau graduated from Université Laval in family medicine (1986) and holds a master’s degree in health sciences education (1995). Starting in 1998, he assumed various responsibilities at the university, including the review and management of the family medicine residency program from March 2003 to October 2007. He also led the IECPCP team from 2005 to 2008, and served as a consultant for national and foreign institutions in interprofessional training and collaborative practices. In addition, he was responsible for the development of competencies in professionalism, ethics, sociology and health economics.
Starting in October 2007, he served as Vice-President of Academic Affairs at Montfort. In this role, he oversaw the creation of the first Francophone research institute in Ontario in the field of healthcare, the establishment of the education department which doubled the offer of internships for future Francophone healthcare professionals, physicians, nurses and various therapists, and the foundation of Centre Prométhée, Canada’s first centre devoted to professional training for the entire staff of a hospital, both clinically and in terms of the development of management skills.
Since 2016, he oversees the Institut du Savoir Montfort (ISM) as its first Chief Executive Officer. ISM is a one-of-a-kind knowledge institute that brings together people of ideas and of actions, whose mission is to invigorate and renew research and training in French. An associate professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Ottawa since April 2011, he is interested in issues pertaining to professionalism and ethics. In his role as CEO of the ISM, he is a member of Montfort's Board of Trustees and Montfort's senior management team.
