
Bone Densitometry (Bone scan or BMD)
Bone densitometry scanning, also called bone scan, is an enhanced form of x-ray technology that is used to measure bone mineral density (BMD).
It measures bone density in the hip, spine, wrist, forearm, foot, heel or fingers.
This examination uses x-rays to measure bone density in the hips and spinal cord.
Instructions: You must not take any vitamins or calcium on the day of the examination. You will be stretched out on your back while the x-ray tube moves above you, without ever touching you.
